Protesters returned to the streets of Portland, Ore., Friday night after wildfires that had effectively suspended the demonstrations cleared from the area.
PORTLAND, Ore — Officials said there are 16 wildfires burning in Oregon right now, and eight of those fires may continue to burn into the winter. More than one million acres of land has burned so far, Oregon Governor Kate Brown said. The governor was joined by fire officials in giving an update on the wildfires burning throughout the state. on Friday, she added that 40,000 Oregonians have been evacuated, and 500,000 are in evacuation zones.
Two people were arrested following violent clashes between President Trump supporters and counter-protesters in Salem, the Oregon State Police said in a news release.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - A church in rural northeastern Oregon is now the epicenter of the state's largest coronavirus outbreak, as 236 people tested positive for the disease, authorities said Tuesday. "I think generally we are seeing increasing numbers, which is what we expected with reopening," said Thomas Jeanne, the deputy state health officer and deputy state epidemiologist.

HILLSBORO, Ore. – A middle school student in Hillsboro tested positive for novel coronavirus, health authorities in Oregon said Sunday. The South Meadows Middle School student is in isolation and they are tracing any close contact situations that student may have had with others. They are only showing mild symptoms of the virus. The Hillsboro School District says the school is undergoing an “enhanced cleaning” and will remain open on Monday.
