Skywatchers were getting quite the treat in the July morning sky. A recently discovered comet has provided dazzling views for those with optimal pre-dawn conditions. NASA's Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (NEOWISE) mission discovered the icy visitor to our solar system in late March. So, it's been named Comet NEOWISE. The space telescope spotted the comet using its two infrared channels, which are sensitive to the heat signatures given off by the object.
